The Puginese is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between a Pug and Pekingese. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and understand that you can get any combination of the characteristics found in either breed. This designer breed is recognized by ACHC (American Canine Hybrid Club).

A Puginese is a cross between a Pug and a Pekingese. Puginese are small, energetic, and playful dogs. They tend to be social and thrive on attention and affection, especially from their favorite humans.

Although they are not recognized by the American Kennel Club, they are recognized by other notable dog organizations. The American Canine Hybrid Club, Designer Breed Registry, Designer Dogs Kennel Club, and more all recognize the Puginese.

Temperament

Puginese are affectionate dogs with cheerful, playful personalities that bond closely with their families and love spending time with them. They tend to have a sweet disposition. As long as they have been properly socialized, they tend to get along well with children, other dogs, and other pets. They also tend to open up quickly to strangers and are happy to receive attention from them once they have been introduced. Although they tend to be social and friendly dogs, Puginese are alert watchdogs and are prone to barking. It’s recommended to start to train your dog to stop barking early on to prevent it from becoming a nuisance behavior.
