Overview

The Shiba-ranian is a mix between the Shiba Inu spitz breed and the perky and playful Pomeranian. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and understand that you can get any combination of the characteristics found in either breed.

A Pom-Shi, or a Shiba-Ranian, is a cross between a Shiba Inu and a Pomeranian. These little dogs are energetic and playful. They are known for being sweet, affectionate, intelligent, and a little independent at times.

Temperament

Shiba-Ranians tend to be loving and affectionate dogs. Although they can be independent sometimes, they still love being around their favorite humans, especially when it’s time to play or cuddle. They tend to get along well with older children who can interact with a dog properly as well as other pets and other dogs. They can be suspicious of strangers at first, but tend to warm up quickly once introduced as long as they are properly socialized. They can be prone to barking a lot, so you do want to train your dog to stop barking early on.

Pom-Shi and Shiba-Ranian are the more common names for this hybrid breed. They are also sometimes called a Shi-Pom; not to be confused with the Shih-Pom, which is a cross between a Shih Tzu and a Pomeranian.
