Breed Information

Overview

The Bugg is not a purebred dog. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and understand that you can get any combination of the characteristics found in either breed.

A Bugg is a cross between a Boston Terrier and Pug. These dogs tend to be small and are known for their adorable faces and gentle, fun, and comedic personalities.

As a designer breed, they are not recognized by the American Kennel Club, but they are recognized by other notable dog organizations. The American Canine Hybrid Club, Designer Breed Registry, Designer Dogs Kennel Club, and more all recognize the Bugg.

Temperament

Buggs are a great fit for single owners as well as families. They tend to get along well with children, other dogs, and other pets. They tend to be sweet, affectionate, and love to cuddle. They also tend to have an upbeat, fun-loving, and sometimes clownish personality. They don’t tend to have a protective instinct, but will tend to give a warning bark when strangers approach. If left untrained or not socialized properly, barking can become a nuisance behavior and they can also become territorial.

Did You Know?

Although Bugg tends to be the most popular name, these dogs are also sometimes called a Bug, Pugin, or simply a Boston Terrier Pug Mix or a Boston Pug Mix.
